Here are a couple web links to help you find forest service and national park system campgrounds.
Try to drive through the red rock formations outside Colorado Springs and visit the Air Force Academy grounds if possible while there. Drive to the top of Pikes Peak though it is probably snow covered this time of year. There is a Cog Rail Road that goes up the mountian that may be in operation. High altitude so breath deep. Take a ride on the Gorge Scenic Rail Road. There is a lot to do in Colorado and the other states in the area. If you make it to Sante FE, New Mexico, try to visit some of the old churches in the city. Very artsy town.
You guys will have a wonderful time wherever you go as there is something to see and do everywhere around there.
