I have my Rickson wheels. They look in fine shape. Stopped in at LS in Placerville and spoke with a guy named Francisco. He spent a good 20 minutes going over the tires and prices he had. The best prices were on the Toyo M608Z with a price of $411 each for the 245's and $422 for the 265's.
He could order the Michelin XDS2 tires but over $580 each. He mentioned Costco would be cheaper and they are. I mentioned Costco could get me those XDS2 tires for $408 each but couldn't mount them. I forgot to ask Francisco what LS would charge to mount. He did tell me they just do a standard spin balance though. I asked if they shave tires to make them true round on the wheel and he said no. I didn't ask if they match tire to wheel; low side of one to the high side of the other, but got the impression that a 'standard spin balance' is just that; a standard spin balance and nothing more.
For over $180 per tire, I'm pretty sure I can deal with finding some independent tire or front end shop that will mount and balance them for a reasonable price; 30 bucks or so each.
There is a guy in Placerville that has a reputation for doing front end work on big vehicles, RV's etc. Keith's Alignment and Brake. I'll give them a call and see.
