On my F350, there is no "airing the rear tires down". The placard calls for 80psi all the time. But I don't mind the ride. I only notice how stiff it is when I'm on a really bad road or when I'm going over a speed bump. I would not hesitate to use it as my daily driver.
So ya a F350 is not going to ride like a F150 but you can air down the tires no problem.
The easy way is just deal with the stupid tpms light.... Or you can get the tpms re programmed in the trucks computer down to any air pressure as low as 30 psi.
Not all dealers will do it. Some will play dumb, some will refuse based on safety concerns.
It cost me an hour's shop time but I got the tpms re programmed on my '13 F250 down to the min 30 psi.
Now I can air up for big loads, air down in the winter without the light coming on and I still retain the functionality of the tpms. If a tire gets to 29 psi, the tpms tells me it has a leak.
