I have a 3500 Ram new since 99 and have parked it in front of my house for 13 years.... it has commercial plates because of weight.... most of the people on the block have used from time to time and it looks like any other pickup.I got a $250 summons for parking overnight bececause of the plate.... boy some laws are just crap!!!! Our town passed a large vehicle ordinance and required you to register with the city, pay a fee and then buy a 24 hour parking permit when you need to park in front of your home. Any vehicle over 7 feet high or more than 21 eet in length meets the criteria for a large vehicle.It's not just restricted to commercial plate vehicles. So now all over town you see RV's parked in front yards and driveways instead of the street. The storage lots are having heyday because they can charge high rates for RV spots. The lot we store in has gone from $180 to over $300 per month in the past two years since the ordinace was passed. They haven't added any more amenities to justify the raise.

Wow...talk about Mickey Mouse BS and just looking for revenue...Good grief, are you saying that your city is ticketing regular sized everyday pick-up trucks???I can maybe see it if you are storing/parking an 18 wheeler in front of your neighborhood house...but a pick-up..COME ON.

Do you live in a Homeowners Association community?I have parked overnight in many cities in California. Never had a problem. My understanding that some Homeowners Association communities have those kinds of rules. Personally, I rarely go in one, much less park there.Wayne

Long Island has been doing it for a long time. Family members of mine lost their farmland in the late 40's that they had bought from the Matinicock Indians in the 1600's.....after they got surrounded by mansions (like JP Morgan's niece) and got taxed into oblivion. Can't have smelly cows next to those fine folks!Good luck. That's pretty cra ppy.

At least you could put it in the driveway and still use it.I had farm plates on my one ton pickup and had been driving it to work for years and years and years. THEN some newly graduated police academy youngster got assigned to my district and decided to ticket me for unlawful use of my vehicle. :R:R

Good grief, are you saying that your city is ticketing regular sized everyday pick-up trucks???
I can maybe see it if you are storing/parking an 18 wheeler in front of your neighborhood house...but a pick-up..COME ON.
