Yah. I don’t think there is a downside to private networks. It raises the bar for public networks, keeps traffic down at public sites and allows for an optional better, faster, more user friendly charging experience for those who buy something like a Rivian, Porsche or Tesla. Porsche private network is so far only in Europe. Competition is good. It forces everybody to do better.
Technically Tesla is not a private network as they are open to other manufacturers signing on and further developing the network but no takers to date. I would love to see Jaguar hook up with Tesla. I think that would push me over the edge on that Ipace sitting in Kelowna. I can hear it calling me. :).
