Years ago, on I-290 I was driving down the center lane. As I crested a hill, suddenly there was a big (25' at least) cruiser boat laying in the passing lane, tilted to port side. A half mile ahead there was a pickup pulled over with an empty boat trailer, two guys with that "isn't there supposed to be a boat on this thing" look.
Another time, also on I-290, a big tarp blew off a dump truck and covered the car next to me. He swerved around a little until the tarp finally blew off. Bet he needed a clothes change after that.
Finally (yep,on the I-290 again) a big dump truck for whatever reason had the dump box raise fully and dump the full load of dirt in the center lane. At least it was soft if someone hit it.
As for me, I am OCD about tying stuff down. It usually takes me a while to undo all the straps that I use just in case.
