ROCKWOOD HW296

We have a Ford F-150 3.7 V6 Regular cab with 8ft bed. We are looking at purchasing a Rockwood HW296. Can anyone tell us anything about this camper? It's a 16ft. Have they had any problems with it? Are they happy with it? Etc. Any suggestions when looking at one what to really look for? We have just looked on line. Going next week to shop. ANY help would be appreciated. We don't know anything about pop ups. lol. Thanks so much!!!
  • I have a Flagstaff HW 27KS which I believe is a 2ft shorter than the one you're looking at. I pull it with a `13 Ford C/C 5.0 and the mountains of Colorado made it work in some places....but we were also loaded with 5 people, 5 bikes clothes & food for 10 days plus a whole lot of other stuff that we thought we'd need but just got in the way.
  • I own a Rockwell HW256 and I love it. For me Forest River did a great job when the built my camper. It has a 12 foot box and for the wife and I it is pretty roomy, add 1 more person and it starts to get tight and with any more it is too small. I think the 16 foot box is way roomer. I would suggest you go find a dealer with both and go inside each one. I think Forest River is one of the better RV companies. The lift system on my camper broke and Forest River took care of the repair completely under warranty.
