We chose a Roo over the Shamrock when we bought a few months ago because of the differences we saw between the two. They may come off the same assembly line, but there are differences.
The big difference I saw was how the bunk canvas attached to the bunk door. On the Shamrock, you had canvas that came around the edge of the bunk door and had to be hooked or clipped into place in setup, then unhooked before the bed could be folded back in. The Roo has the canvas attached to the door so setup was faster (drop the door, pop up the frame, and make the bed) and teardown equally faster (unmake & fold up bed, drop the frame, and fold up the door, tucking the canvas in as you fold).
Look closely and you may find more differences. This one was enough for me.
Yep, you were looking at two trailers built at different times of the year.
the Shamrock was built before Forest River began the pre-attached canvas. the Roo was built after they started this.
changes like this often occur mid-year, instead of a new model year.
so, if you would have found a Shamrock built on the same day as that Roo, it would've had the same pre-attached canvas.
my '07 Roo has the older bungee/snap canvas and i prefer it. - dadmomhExplorerMy guess would be that one was earlier manufactured model, even though they may be technically the same year. Since the exterior colors differ, they most likely had some of those bunkends in stock....they use up what they have and then change over. ROO is a higher volume unit, so they would have made the changeover earlier. It's always a surprise to see exactly what you're getting. We just moved to a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 with the standard dinette. Have seen many pix online of the 2013 with a free-standing table and 4 chairs. Just whatever is available that day. Enjoy your new ROO, we loved ours and it's looking like it's found a new home...hope to know 100% by the end of the day.
BTW, if you're ever in the Millersburg, IN area - northern part of IN - it's well worth calling ahead to schedule a plant tour. Very interesting and we learned a lot. - TerryM86ExplorerWe chose a Roo over the Shamrock when we bought a few months ago because of the differences we saw between the two. - garyrExplorerThanks everyone, well we decided on the shamrock 23ikss over the roo. We were hybrid owners previously then went to a travel trailer, always missed the open air of the hybrid, so in a op,e of weeks we will be hybrid owners again!

Swmp - Dougie123ExplorerWith a Roo, you get a kangaroo as pet. With a Shamrock, you get an Irish Terrier :). (See sig)
- Dougie123ExplorerShamrocks have luck on their sides.....literally! Still hunting for that pot-o-gold at the end of the proverbial rainbow though....
- Chuck_SExplorerThey are identical. Decals are the only difference. Maybe, just maybe, there are different fabric choices. But that's it. No way as drastically different as Chrysler/Dodge or Camero/Firebird.
The factory just makes Roos unless they somehow get an order for a Shamrock and then they put on different decals.
Local Roo dealer told me the Roo was superior to the Shamrock, of course. What an idiot!
