Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604...need info ASAP

Hi all, thinking of moving over to the dark side from our ROO 23SS hybrid. We're looking at the Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 and need opinions, both pro and con. The model is a 2013. RVW has only 1 in the color we want and it's no longer available. While the world won't stop of we have to go with another interior.....we REALLY want the Seagrass. Help!
  • I had a similar model from Flagstaff and it felt like I was going to fall through the flimsy floor after only a few months. I am heavy (250 pounds) but I was disappointed. They have to give up something to make them "Ultra Lite".
  • I bought a 2604 in 2010. The two rockers that came with it were low quality. Many replace them with more comfortable recliners. I elected to remove them entirely so that I can use the space in different ways. I can move the couch or dinette in that space (after arriving at campground)or I can use it for other chairs or storage. Can even sleep another person there if necessary. Lots of space and versatility with this floorplan.
  • We also have a 2604 purchased new in 2011. The only thing I find as a disadvantage is that the 2 rockers have to be dealt with each time we pack up to move, and there is really not enough room for both to be used as rockers. The one nearest the sofa works well. The one nearest the door has to stay so close to the back that it cannot rock. If you pull it out further, your legs hit the cabinets. Other than that, we like it well.

We just picked up our 2604 from RVW last Wednesday and spent Monday morning moving stuff from our Sunline to the Rockwood. Towed fine, even in a strong cross wind.
If you have to order it, expect a 9-week wait. Oh, and I strongly advise getting it with walnut cabinetry. The lighter wood adds to the open feeling the floor plan provides.

  • We own a Rockwood 2502 and couldn't be happier with this TT. Before this we owned a National Sea Breeze class A. Good luck and you should be a happy camper!
  • We have the Flag staff twin and really like the T.T. Like the floor plan, and the room in the shower and bathroom.

We had a issue with the slide which was covered by warranty and a problem with the enclosed belly separating in a few areas that was fixed with some screws.

It's the perfect size for us, and also a good size to pull, park and store.
  • I have a 2604 Rockwood Ultra Lite, 2011. We love it. Other than just a couple minor problems after purchase, no problems after that.
  • Thanks for the input. I'm sure Foxy will love the 2604 IF things work out, although she will certainly miss looking out the unzipped bunkends. We've loved our HTT and would not be considering a change if it were not for age creeping up - actually sorta running really fast - and that the HTT does take more effort setting up. DH has a few physical issues and while he's reluctant to admit it, it wears him out with the extra set up/break down. And I'm not able to do some of the things, so there ya go.

LOVE the bathroom in the 2604! Love being able to wash sheets at home and go out and put them back on and be done with it. Losing the rear bunkend will not be problem for us since our DS#1 only goes with us 1 time a year and the sofa bed will be sufficient. We never dry camp and are used to the 30 gallon in our ROO, so we'll be fine with the tank issue. We're good for a 3-day weekend, but day #4 requires the blue tote.

We're finding there is not a whole lot out there between our HTT#s and larger TTs that is really "us". This 2604 really fits our needs and I can see it as our last trailer. Of course, I thought that about our ROO, too....but that was several yars ago. Thanks again.
  • We have a 2008 8272S Rockwood, and aside from a few minor issues it has been a great trailer. I looked at the 2604 floorplan, and the only about the design that gives me pause is the 37 gallon gray water tank. We have the same size tank (give or take a couple gallons), and have found that for dry camping that is too small. We use a blue tote when we are at a campground with a dump station, but sometimes we are at locations without dump stations. If you intend to camp with full hookups, or if there are only two of you, then it won't be an issue.

I do like the bathroom design on the 2604---much better than ours!

Also, you may want to reconsider your tow vehicle with a 30' trailer. Our Rockwood tows so much better with our Ram 2500 than our 2004 Armada (9100 lbs. tow capacity), especially in the mountains and in windy conditions.

BTW, our dogs very much approve of moving up to a hard-sided climate-controlled trailer. I'm sure yours will too!
