I always travel with some fresh water, maybe a quarter tank in case we need the washroom or whatever. I've also traveled with a full tank many times when dry camping. No issues yet, knock on wood.
I sanitize and fill the FW tank in the spring and don't empty it completely 'til I winterize in late fall. The tank always has sufficient content to use the system anywhere, at any time, and can be anywhere from partially to completely full, especially in early spring or late fall when campground fresh water supplies may be turned off and I need to bring water from home. As such, I need to be assured I can travel safely with the FW tank completely full so proper tank support is critical.
