I think I'm going to bow out of this thread since Ralph Cramden has taken it to a personal level. "That's your prerogative even though it's clear you know nothing about the issue." I guess he has issues with people who have a different perspective on things. Safe travels all, enjoy your your time on the road. I sure will with full tanks.
Nope, no issue with different perspectives. But issues however with people posting BS about something they know absolutely nothing about. "Personal Level"???????? So be it.mm047 wrote:
After reading this whole thread, I crawled under my 2016 Flagstaff 21FBRS to see how the water tank is installed. I have a 43 gal tank that is sitting on two pieces of 1 1/2" angle iron that is welded to the frame rails. There are two cross member pieces of the same angle iron that look to be at 1/3 and 2/3 of the width tank. The tank, when full, weighs in at 356 lbs.
I always leave home with a full tank, since I almost never plan ahead on where I will be setting up for the first couple of days. It is often just out in the National Forest is some nice quiet spot. I ususally drive home almost completely empty, and I can feel a difference in handling, especially if I haven't been able to find a dump station. The holding tanks are in back, so the weight balance is off. Not too bad, but noticable.
The black covering on my TT is attached to the flooring, so my wiring and plumbing is visible. It looks to be attached down well.
Take a good look at how the 2 cross member pieces attach. They should simply have a bent end that drops into a slot punched in the horizontal leg of the main angles. Make sure they did not also punch those slots in the vertical leg of tha angles, thats a weak point. Here are pictures of our Roo an houir after I backed it in the driveway after the PDI, a 70 mile drive with 2/3 of a tank.
This is what happens to the Lippert supports. Here are some before , during, and after pics.
Nice job Mr. Cramden. I guess you do know what you are talking about after all. None the less, LCI builds sub standard products.
