I've owned 3 Jaycos and never had warranty issues as it pertains to getting things fixed. Ever. While I like what I see in the Rockwood line it looks like I'm going to stick to my tried and true.
Jayco makes a great hybrid, if you find a floorplan that you like.
We couldn't and were very happy with our Roo 23SS for over 10 years and FR's support.
Ok Dan.
You were very happy with your Roo 23ss. I have read your posts for years at other forums. What model year was that? 2007? I can tell you for a fact that in 2007 these things were built just a little different than in 2017. You take every opportunity to bash Aerolite / Dutchmen you can find. You do it here, at FRF, at Popuportal, yet the Aerolite we owned was flawless. Have you ever owned one? Perhaps your moderator status at FRF pushes you to be biased but IMO Forest River scrapes the bottom of the barrel in build quality no matter what the brand name is on it. My Palomino popup literally fell apart the first season. My 2017 Roo required numerous things to be done on my part if we ever intended to enjoy it, but from the factory it was a POS.
i was a Roo fan way before i joined FRF. i've started reading the Hybrid forum here back in 2003, before i joined in 2005. i was wanting to learn about hybrids.
i looked at every brand of hybrid made from 2004 to 2006.
i've read every thread here since then and learned a lot.
i was a big fan of Aerolite/Kodiak hybrids back then. Dutchmen was doing cutting edge stuff with their hybrids, which i admired. Thermarest tents and mattresses, Thule RV attachment pods and other stuff no other manufacturer was doing.
we were going to buy a Aerolite or Kodiak 235 because of the counterspace and how well it seemed to be built.
but after the Thermarest debacle, i saw a change in Dutchmen. i saw more and more unhappy customers with the Thermarest tent ends and futon mattresses, getting no support or help from Dutchmen. the Thermarest design was causing bunk door delam issues also.
soon after that, Dutchmen cut back on the number of their hybrid models, down to only a handful of floorplans. and they've never been a mover and shaker in the Hybrid world since then.
Currently, Aerolite only has 3 hybrid models. back in the day, they had 7 or 8.
add that to my local dealer that sold Aerolite, who had issues with getting Dutchmen to help with their unhappy customers.
the owner said he couldn't wait to stop carrying them.
i have read here, only a handful of Aerolite/Kodiak owners that spoke well of Dutchmen's support, in regards to warranty issues.
that has been my experience being on RV.net since 2003.
you are correct that you and i have been happy with the different brands.
i always recommend Jayco and Starcraft, along with Roo/Shamrock, based on my own inspection of their products and posts from owners of those brands.
i used to include Aerolite/Kodiak also but i don't see Dutchmen in the same light as i used to.
