Roo (or other) Sofa/Couch

We have a 2009 Roo 23SS that we love. However, my wife and I find the sofa to be uncomfortable. We both end up trying to keep from sliding off toward the dinette. (the front of the cushions tend to sink at our knees.. and we are far from being overweight) Anyone have this issue? Our dealer says he's never heard of it. We'd like to replace or have the sofa re-upholstered. We don't use the sofa as a bed so if we lost that convenience it would be OK.

Thanks.

  • We have the same issue with the sofa in our 23SS. Very uncomfortable. Not helpful to you (or us) but the sofas in the new Roos are fantastic. They are actually comfortable to sit on and when you pull them out, there is a full size air bed that you inflate for the mattress. It would actually sleep an adult.
  • Don't know if this will help, but we found an ottoman at Walmart that made a world of difference in our 23SS. I think being able to get out feet up was the problem and for a nominal price, this fixed it and we were fine. Room for 4 feet on one ottoman. Ours had a storage area inside where we kept all the doggie stuff. Did double duty for around $30 or so.

To try to remove and replace the sofa in the 23SS, would leave a number of holes in the flooring and you'd likely not be happy with those holes. My cousin and DH were considering replacing the sofa in their KZ, but found the only ones that would fit were Lazy Boy and pretty $$$.

In our new TT, I honestly believe they set the swivel rockers in the middle of the unit and built around it. I cannot see any way to maneuver them around to get in/out the door. bikendan has a point that you may be able to put something in through the bunkend. Personal opinion is that I'd check into an ottoman or similar before starting on a project that could turn into a real nightmare. Good luck.
  • I don't think they are good in any camper. The worst looks like the one in the 233s. I have heard horror stories for every camper including rant after rant about the mattresses.
  • we have an '07 Roo 23SS and know what you mean.
but we'll probably be moving to a travel trailer this year, when i retire.
many of the trailers, that we can tow, have the same kind of sofa.
we had a salesman contact his Rockwood rep to see if we could replace the typical sofa that converts into a bed, with a sofa recliner.
we were informed that we could for an extra $700.
the problem with the 23SS's sofa is that it's not like the other sofas in trailers. it's not freestanding. plus it's very short and not sure if you could find a sofa recliner to fit in that space.

so, i suggest taking it out and replacing it with a couple of recliners. you can get the sofa out and the recliners in, through the front bunk end.
