Rooftop rack over AC

The new BF came with a Maggie rack and AC. I purchased some Yakima bars and some Topline towers (slightly taller than the Yakima towers for the Maggie). Even with the height of the Maggie, the bars are a long ways from clearing the air conditioner. Not much spread on the bars as they set presently, between AC and vent openings. Anyone figure a way get their rack higher?

  • I've got the little 'foot. I set my garage door at 11' and can get under it. With cargo, I might need to drive around the 11'8" bridge. Tubing spacers are an idea, but I probably need 3" or so.
  • Yeah, Bigfoots are not exactly known to be low-profile campers, and 2017 F350's are pretty jacked up. You've got to be right at 12'6" now with the AC unit.
  • Before you go that route measure the height from ground to top of the ac then add the thickness of what you plan on carrying. Will you be able to go into gas stations and under bridges and tree branches?
  • Square tubing spacers? I used 1 1/2" square tubing to shim up a mount for my 150W solar panel mounted to my roof rack. Might find some to fit your application.
