ROOF/WALL REPAIR

I have a 94 prowler travel trailer when I purchased it the back corner above bunk had been repaired(vinyl patches laid) now inside above bunk the ceiling is sagging, also where the awning bolts into wall is loose I believe the roof and top of wall are rotten. Anyone know what cost maybe to replace entire roof and wall?
  • Sorry to say, it would be much more than it's worth. :(
Your best bet is to attack it yourself if you're a DIY'r. It will be a lot of work though.

x2. If you have the time, talent, and tools then you can fix yourself but if you have to hire someone you may find their estimate for a "fix" is more than you paid for the TT. To put salt in the wound the value of the TT won't go up much.
  • Look at Youtube for videos (there are several) for DIY roof and wall repair

Check out the Eternabond websites for product info.
  • I've done several roof/wall/paneling repairs and replacements.... Not terribly difficult jobs once you know what materials and techniques work best, just time consuming. There is a order to how you would take things apart to make the repairs and replacement of siding, trim interior panels, etc easier. You will be surprised how poorly they are constructed once you start pulling them apart. As far as having someone do the work, it will be expensive and probably not worth it.. There is info on you tube and sites like this if you search, but every unit has it's own challenges..
  • This ‘94 TT is dead meat. Dump it properly and move on
  • The cost will be more than a 1994 Prowler is worth. Either use it as is or figure out how to patch it up yourself.

    x2

Eternabond is only for patching, not for a wall/roof that needs to be rebuilt

    Fix the awning bolts asap
I had a storm pull my awning. It loosened the bolts on the bottom of the awning arms where it attaches to the side of the RV.

I was not aware this had happened until the carpet in the bathroom kept getting all wet. I thought it was water line leaking related, not.

Those bolts are attached to the edge of the floor of the MH.
When those bolts are loose when it rains all the water runs down the side of the RV and right into the wood of the floor and gets sucked up into your entire floor.

Fix those loose bolts ASAP. Because that wood is particle board once its wet the bolts won't stay in. I had to have repair but a metal plate in the inside so the bolts would stay in.

The cost to repair roof and walls is very expensive if you have to hire someone to do it.

If you are handy, go to the DIY forum here and you will find pictures, tips, and how to do it from fellow members that have tackled the job themselves rehabbing an RV.

Good Luck hope it all works out for you.
  • I restored my Starcraft by removing the inside panels and fixtures. I removed all rotten wood and replaced with new. I also insulated and wired everything while it was a shell. If you have a plywood-sheeted roof, you will need to remove the roof membrane so that you can repair that sheeting.

The Starcraft renovation costs were around $4K and the labor (my own) was around 6 mos. of almost full-time hours.

The good news is that I now have a trailer that is easy to heat/cool, is comfortable, and the inside is laid out exactly how I want it. Repair or renovation is possible and one doesn't need to be extremely skilled to accomplish it. The purpose and intention of the repair has to be weighed against the result and situation of the owner.
