Rose Parade & Disneyland- Any tips or hints?

We are thinking about taking a 2 week trip in Dec. 2014 to see the Rose Parade and Disneyland. We have a 7 y/o son.

I see that Fantasy RV Tours has a "Rose Parade" package, which involves staying at the Santa Anita Racetrack and other grown up activities. Would it be worth it to attend this just b/c of the camping location near the float barns? It looks like out of the 6 days we could participate in 3 days worth of organized stuff. We would skip the stuff that's not kid appropriate so everyone is happy.

Any tips for seeing Disneyland for 2-3 days?

Rose Parade? Anyone know of any float companies that allows 7 y/o kids to help decorate?

  • Just attended the Fantasy RV Rose Parade.
    Well planned!
    Well organized!
We did most of the items listed.
Only one or two children that young, were there.
    Our seats were great!
No signs or poles in our view.
    Sun to our back.
    Great seats!
Buses parked about two blocks away.
Porta cans about fifty feet away.
There were about 127 rvs there and about 250 people.
Also, you can skip the rv and stay in a hotel.

The float you work on is the City of Sierra Madre float. You can probably work on it as they always for volunteers. If you decide not to go thru tour.
  • If you can, hit DLR in the middle of the week when the crowds are lighter.
  • Contact the Pasadena chambers of Commerce for information on the 2015 rose parade, regarding, helping decorate the floats. My brother did that years ago and helped decorate and put roses on the floats. He said it was a long days to get all the roses on the floats. They are already planning the rose parade now.
    Hope this helps.
