Rubber Bed mats?

Browsing and enjoying these forums for months now and have about decided on tow (haul?) vehicle, tiedown type, camper, etc.

Now I have a question regarding rubber mats. I was originally going to simply to a Linex liner and see what happens, but it looks like the consensus is a rubber mat, even if one has the liner.

So... which rubber mats are proffered? What brands should I be looking at? Thickness? Tread style?

If I get the mat and leave it in the bed, is there any need for Linex liner? Should I worry about the bed rails?

Thanks in advance for all your help!
  • What size?

All I can find locally is 4x6. I'm leery about leaving 2' of my camper unsupported.

we got ours at Tractor Supply (or one of those farm/fleet places). Semi-custom to fit the truck. Not too expensive and fits like a glove. Even though the truck came with the spray in bed liner, we just leave this in there all the time.

I was in Tractor Supply a few weeks ago and saw a pallet of rubber mats that looked great and at a reasonable price.
  • Yes, a rubber mat from a farm supply is fine. When I was buying my TC the salesman was pushing tiedowns mats etc. When I declined, he stated that "everyone buys their ($250) mat". I said no and he looked shocked. 2 years later my mat, camper, and truck are just fine.
