rubber roof cleaning

Can anyone tell me tell me the best way to clean a rubber roof? Also what to treat it with after. I have no leaks or anything wrong with it but it's a 2008 and has never been treated so I'm thinking it's due.

I use regular automotive wash in a pressure washer, and a scrub brush on any stubborn stains, followed by a coating of 303 UV protectant.
Do not us anything with petroleum or citric acid.

I would never use a power washer on any part of my camper. I use rubber roof cleaner (usually Thetford). I wet the roof, spray the cleaner on directly, take a soft brush and brush the roof, let it set for a few minutes, brush it a second time and then rinse. I will repeat those steps on stubborn stains. I have found that each time I clean the roof it is easier because the specially designed rubber roof cleaners have a protectant that seems to keep things from staining the roof which makes cleaning easier. I wash my roof at least twice a year. More frequently cleaning means less work in the long run and extended roof life. Just my two cents....

Dont know why you quoted me. If one does not want to use a power washer,or has not the ability to do so properly, please do not. :S

    Why ???
Because your owner's manual probably says so.
  • Spic and Span is what the roof membrane manufacturer specifically noted as the best substance to use when cleaning the rubber roof. I use that diluted in water with a soft scrub brush.

    Works great...

  • This video can give you a start. I use Spic n Span and I also use a hose - unlike the method in the video.
Dawn Dish Soap also works and is safe for rubber roofs. Be careful, it gets really slippery.
