Rubber Roof Repair

I have noticed some bubbling on the rubber roof of my 5th wheel about the size of a half dollar. Is this normal or is this the beginning of a major issue. I'm told that this is caused by a vacuum created by the wind sucking the roof upwards as you drive down the highways. Is there a preferred or recommended repair method? After much thought, I am considering making a small incision in the bubble area and injecting Dicor Sealant until the bubble area is full and starts to ooze out which would also reseal the initial incision. Is this a good approach for repairing these small bubbles or should I even worry about it? Looking for opinions and suggestions. Thank you.

  • OP if you use the Dicor to fill hole, would suggest the dicor tape on the outside as well, shouldn't be a problem either way, rubber will stretch before you have a leaking problem.

This is normal.I'm told that this is caused by a vacuum created by the wind sucking the roof upwards as you drive down the highways. WHAT? That is just bizarre! Who ever told you that was just talking to hear their brains rattle! Is there a preferred or recommended repair method? Cutting a slit in the roof membrane is always a very bad idea. That is just asking for trouble. Is this a good approach for repairing these small bubbles or should I even worry about it? The less holes in the roof the less opportunities you have for a leak. leave it alone.Looking for opinions and suggestions. Thank you.

  • Unfortunately normal because of poor workmanship. The good news is they don't get worse or cause any problems.
  • My '97 28' 5er has had those size delam bubbles since new. They haven't changed any or caused any issues.
