While under my camper there has never been a fume problem. I don't always point exhaust out either. The noise is good because it's so low you don't notice it and I can keep it locked to the bicycle cable while running and tell if it is still running because sometimes I forget to turn on the tank vent and will only run for about 5 mins.:E
