Running lights on cars

I think I have finally had it. People in cars and trucks that think that they can see you so you can see them at dusk or early morning are plain wrong. This year as we begin our USA trek with our TT I do uses the I ways as opposed to the secondary as in past to many people have made our trips scary at times. Sometimes I have had to go to the shoulder as someone passes me only to realize there is an oncoming car. Police and legislatures need to make it mandatory for cars to use their running lights all of the time in the interest of safety.
Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful winter season.
  • We have a 2020 and in the day time nothing is on unless I turn them on but at night the only time those running lights come on is when 0n low beam. They go off on high. Read my post Tomman, you can read can't you? I bought that 99 truck NEW in 1999 and have had 3 since then last being this 2020.
  • Can't legislate out stupidity, as much as they try. They have daytime running lights, then these morons drive around at night with only those dim front lights and no rear lights.

Every time they find a way to idiot proof something, they create a better idiot.

They might try adjusting those running lights as they only work on the low beam but 1/2 the time are blinding you in the dark. I bought a 99 F-350 new in MD that came from Canada and the lights came on when you started it. I had the dealer disconnect that.

Running light on with low beams ????? To what purpose would that be. They are on all the time when your headlights are off. A 99 Ford is not even part of the world of cars and trucks today.

  • I e never had any issues with cars on secondary roads. If a car is almost going to hit you they aren’t paying attention, lights or no lights!
  • Daytime running lights have been required in Canada since 1989 according to Google, but when on the road I always have my headlights on.
  • That is why vehicles in Europe have what is known as middle loight, it is not the high beam nor the driving light but the dimmed driving light, they are turned on when the engine is running and the parking brake is released.

They also have a bright red light on the left tail light assembly that turns on when the fog lights are switched on so that when driving in a fog the vehicle in back can see the red light and know there is a car or truck in front.

Sun up and sun down are the most dangerous times on the road.

This time of daylight is known to the truckers as zero hour, you can not see well with the lights on and you can not see with out them, it is better to wait until there is more light or it gets darker.
