Running propane furnace using camper batterys

This is first time going camping in upper 20s. So I will be using furnace does furnace draw batterys down overnight? Not sure how much power gets used from a propane furnace . I have 2 group 27 agms, what voltage is okay to bring them down to during the night without hurting batterys? Im going to a state park,so generator hours are in affect.Moving next day to a site with power, thanks
  • I only have one group 31 deep cycle battery and I've camped many times with overnight lows in the 20's and still have enough battery left to crank the generator in the morning. I turn the thermostat down pretty low, though. Usually about 55.

  • Since you're moving the next day to a site with power, your fully charged batteries will get you through the one night just fine.
  • well I agree except that furnace will run alot more the a few times, two good batteries charged should make it thru a night ,but will need charged the next day.
  • No worries. Propane heaters only draw amps when on for the fan. Once the cabin is warm, the heater shuts off. Maybe 3 amps for 5 min of use 3 - 4 x per night. Not bad. Batteries should be ok.
