Running propane furnace using camper batterys

Thanks for all the replys,just installed 2 new AGMs last season,so im pampering them. I have boondocked before,then I could use generator as needed.Also never needed furnace before when could only rely on batterys. Thanks

I just de-winterized our TC, here in Chicago, we are going to take a short trip this weekend. So, Sunday night we got two inches of snow and temperatures in the 20's. Turned the furnace on to get through the night without having the pipes burst. Kept the temperature at about 55 degrees by morning the batteries were at 70%. I have two AGM batteries with a total of 130 AH. And yes the TC probably could have gotten through 1 night without freezing, but i"m a little OCD.

Of course all answers are academic not knowing what your particular situation is in terms of the temp you want to keep your camper at, the other draws like lights, radio/tv, water pump, insulation, etc. I can say that with my 1995 Weekender that apparently has pretty good insulation, I recently kept it at 52-55 for three nights and 60 in the morning for a couple hours with an AGM 31 battery. By the third morning the voltage dropped to 11.8 and we left anyway. Outside temps were in the 30s also. For one night only I can't imagine you would have ANY problem with 2 27s.

I have done it often with one 31. Never had a problem.

You should be fine unless you are trying to keep it like a sauna in the TC. Some nice comforters, flannel sheets and the furnace on low should do you just fine.

Just an FYI if you have water in the system open up all the cabinets to let warm air into the water pipes and stuff an old towel or two into the Waste valve compartment to insulate that area.

We dry camp often, and it's never been a problem, even long days keeping the place warm.

But honestly, at night we just shut it off. Wife and I keep each other warm :B
