Right up until a few years ago I always had people riding in the bed of my pick up. Nobody ever complained about the heat. The truck had a fiberglass shell with a boot between the sliding window in the shell and the one in the pickup cab, I would just aim the two center a/c vents toward the back window and I put a little $10.00 12volt clip on ocsilating fan, opened the camper shells side windows and even with the humid weather here in the Midwest every body that ever rode back there said it was warm but not unbearable no matter how far we went. I'll bet your dogs can take the heat even better than my friends could. Sorry but I just don't believe in any living creature riding in a trailer of any kind. It just don't sound like a good idea.
