However with large enough zip ties, half a roll of duct tape, two properly placed ratchet straps, four bungy cords, and a F450 DRW truck you should ba able to leave it attached to the outside. :)
Everyone else is saying not to leave it out while traveling, I am offering a solution that alows you to leave it out.
