The bbq is attached to the bumper and swings out so it's about 2' from the trailer. Not really worried about a fire.
Over all the bbq cooks meat. Not the best in the world but it will burn burgers or even steaks if you leave them on long enough.

A couple of things to consider. Most if not all states have limits on how wide a TT can be when under tow. It ranges from 8' to 8.5'.
A BBQ hanging off the side would be illegal.
As a practical matter, I wouldn't use one. Having a steak catch fire is bad enough when the BBQ is 20' from my TT. Having it happen on the outside wall of my TT would quickly add to my grey hairs.
