RV wash and wax. I want your opinions.

I have a crew coming to wash and wax my RV this morning. I have never had a service do this. They have fancy advertising, but somehow they just don't come across as real professionals. What should I look for, as far as methods and products that they use? I don't want them to do damage. They are charging 250.00 plus tax to wash, remove black streaks, and wax the unit. I believe the price is fair, but how can I be sure they know their stuff. I would appreciate some hints and tips from those that have had this done on their unit..

  • 250 on a newer unit sounds about right for just wash, black streak and wax. I would not expect them to clean the roof, awnings or anything else.
  • I was quoted several different prices back in April when I was in Virginia... The numbers ranged from $200.00 up to $500.00 for wash and wax.. including awnings , the roof , and tires... Just remember , we USUALLY get what we pay for..!..
  • Just had mine done at my house for $120.00 Wash, hand wax, roof, tires and windows. About Standard for Yuma. I've seen much higher than 250.00, if your happy, that's all that counts.
I prefer and supply murphy's soap oil for the roof and 303 for the tires.

The price is about right for a wash & wax. In the Montreal area last year I paid $325 (plus tax) for my coach at the time; that included wash, hand wax and cleaning of two awnings.

Down in South Carolina a wash only was $90. A wash and hand wax in in the $250-$300 range.

I always ask to see what products they are using, typically I want it to be rv products that will not damage any decals or gelcoat. I do not want a pressure washer to be used on other than the under carriage.
  • Well just for comparison, I had an estimate to clean and was my 87 mh, with lots of oxidation, and it was $1500. Now granted you are in Canada with a much newer trailer, I think that the price is way too cheap.

As for products, they should use a product like TSP which will clean the old wax off along with the black streaks and I'm guessing a liquid wax instead of a paste. It will look good for a short period of time, but for 250 CAD = 230.139 USD I would not expect a very good job. JMO Did you get several bids for comparison? Please let us know how it goes, you may have hit on a goldmine, or you may just get the shaft.
