What does your car seat say? All of the car seats and booster seats I have ever owned had permanent labels that indicated how they could be/should be properly restrained. If yours doesn't have a label, contact the manufacturer.
What I do know is that sometimes it is difficult to get the car seat properly restrained with certain seat and seat belt configurations. The seat should move no more than an inch side to side when properly restrained.
Right now I don't even have a five-point booster. My youngest sits in a regular belt-positioning booster in the back seat of my van. But I was going to get a five-point seat if it could be safely installed in the front of the pickup.
