Yeah, you really have to check the laws in your area.
But if it were me, the last person sitting in the front middle, would be the youngest. Absolutely no upper body restraint. An air bag is not a restraint.
Like said earlier, I'd probably put the wife in the front middle. Unless one of the oldest kids is larger than the wife.
The five-point harness car seats restrain the upper body. The straps go over the shoulders and attach to another strap that goes between the legs. But the seat needs to be properly installed in the vehicle and that's what I'm not sure about . . . if one can be properly installed in the front middle seat.
Oh ok, I didn't see the part were the booster seat has 5pt harness. Well if that's the case, I would probably not have a problem putting the youngest secured in the 5pt harness booster seat in the middle with just the lap belt securing the booster seat.
So it's actually more of a car seat, than a booster? In that case, that's probably the safest person sitting in that location, as long as the seats aren't jammed up against the dash if the airbags were to deploy.
Our car seats, I have 2 kids under 3yrs old, say that after the child reaches a certain weight, that the Latch system is not to be used and to use the seat belts to restrain the car seat. They tell you how to "Lock" the seat belt so it doesn't move. Though I haven't paid much attention to that yet because the kids aren't at that weight yet.
