Safety in popup for single woman?

I camp alone in a teardrop. Never felt like its hard sides would offer me much protection if a criminal or large animal wanted to get in. I travel with a large dog, in state parks so Rangers are aware I am alone and here in my experience they have stopped by to see how I am doing most evenings before they leave. I always setup camp with two chairs and try to make it look like two people are camping to a casual observer. And although I trust the members in the forums I frequent I do not trust lurkers so never post in advance I am going or where, but family members have my full itinerary.
