Sales numbers

When do you think RAM will overtake Chevy for the #2 spot?
Or do you think they will?

ARTICLE

Seems the experts think it might happen. Heck of a come back for an automaker than almost didn't exist 5 years ago...

From the article -
"Never before has (General Motors) lost share after launching a new pickup truck platform," Barclay's analyst Brian Johnson noted last month."

Total eye opener, I have test drove the 2011-14 Ford Superduty 6.7 crew cab short bed several times since they came out in 2011 with the 6.7. Not trying to bad mouth ford, but never got thru with a test drive thinking what a truck, or this is the one for me, and this a guy that had owned a 7.3 Superduty for nearly 16 years. Same thing with the Chevy, just didn't get that I gotta have this truck feeling. Don't get me wrong they were nice truck's, the 2014 chevy a little bland on the interior, but overall very nice. Went to the Ram dealer last, and I wasn't 2 blocks down the road, and knew what truck I was buying. Nice truck, obviously not for everyone, but IMHO the other two have nothing over on the Ram
  • Ram is doing well. I'm totally brand blind and just bought a Ram because it was by far the best truck for the money for what I needed. Everyone uses a truck differently and a given truck brand will fit that need the best. Ram just seems to have the biggest net in the water these days.

For the record my last trucks in order were Toyota 4runner, Ford F150, Nissan Titan, Chevy Silverado Duramax and now my Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi.

When I bought my Silverado 6 years ago my go to car guy (close friend who has been in auto body, sales, appraisals and pretty any other facet of cars/trucks over the last 25 years) told me to stay away from Dodge/Ram. They were poorly made, "loose" as he put it. They fall apart and just weren't even close to Chevy/GMC or Ford in quality or reliability. This time around he encouraged the Ram.
  • This trend of RAM gaining market share has been going on for the last few years, not just the last several months. If it continues they will indeed take over number 2 in the next few years. When the trend began (if I remember right) RAM sales were less than half of GM sales. If my Ford ever craps out I would be buying a 6.4 Hemi. My F250 has been rock solid though and I plan on it being around for many years to come.
  • That article was entertaining. It's been awhile since I've read a comedy like that.
  • Just ask people like up2nogood after they test drive a Ford GM and RAM with a open mind what they think. That will tell you RAM will be making more headway against the competition.
  • Too bad the writer showed his ignorance by claiming coil springs in the 1500 and leaf springs in the 2500 Ram. No fact checking anymore in journalism.
  • Dude did you even consider the change in the GM heavy dutys would lower sales for because of those holding out for them ???? Lets look at the GM truck numbers against ram in a few months when it matters because the HD trucks are in full swing. Big picture means more than comparing when a body style changes happen on a line. Lets see at end of 2014 if they are that close to them.
  • Soon enough Chevy will have the Colorado sales thrown in there to raise the numbers. I wish they would break them down into more sections/ 35, 25, 15.
So no, I don't believe Chevy will get passed up any time soon.
