I was lucky. I was about ready to sign on the dotted line, but I very rarely buy something right off the bat, so I said I'd wait and research. If I hadn't come here, I would have had no reason to look at anything other than towing capacity to determine what I could get.
People that have bought trailers in the past have found out (and it seems the hard way) what to look for, but people that are buying their first trailer have no idea. If none of the dealers say anything different, even if they get several opinions from several dealers, they still wouldn't know.
It would be nice if either RV dealers or manufacturers of tow vehicles were more open about limitations, but I know that's a lot to ask...
