I travel with one for work. Like satellite tv, they're at the mercy of the weather. Heavy clouds or precipitation and no go. Also I you're in a canyon or area blocking coverage, you're out of luck. And they are expensive but they can save your life in an emergency. Like all tech items, they're not infallible, but they an be useful.
