There's not one manufacturer out there that hasn't had problems and recalls, and if you can't drive your car when the engine quits running, you have no business being behind the wheel. What a joke. So typical of society these days. It's never my fault, it's always someone else that's responsible for my actions. As for the advertised load ratings used for sales, that's no different than just looking at the dry weight stickers on your rv. If you don't know any better, you deserve what you get. If you are going to be within a couple hundred pounds of the max load rating, you are buying the wrong truck anyway.
