I knew about a 2500 dodge having the frame break 2 times and finally he bought a 3500 dodge to tow his alpenlite. Anything can break and nothing is perfect.

That's really interesting. Any chance you can provide some proof (link to click etc.) that Ram's frames are weaker than those used by Ford and GM? Never heard that one before. I'm so sorry to tell you this, but your very weird hatred for a truck brand I happen to own kind of lowers your credibility with me. :( So.... proof would be nice instead of just your word. Thanks!

Oh, BTW, Ram's G56 6 speed manual actually weighs 225 lbs, and the 68RFE weighs 263 lbs (38 lbs difference).

It only makes sense from a manufacturer's point. For marketing purposes they (all manufacturers) want to maximize their advertised tow rating. The fact that company's use their lightest stripper that is least equipped model to do their calculations is no surprise.

I can't imagine them using their loaded models which are generally the heavyweights....to determine maximum tow ratings.

I would suggest that any 'regular' to this forum has enough of a combination of common sense and towing experience to realize this is the case.

With all the recent recalls GM doesn't need anymore bad publicity.

They already moved the release on their next generation trucks up by 9 months.
