What happened to my post about Scam artist vs selling to the dealer? You have deleted it? Thanks Bob Fears

I ran into several of these on autotrader, when looking to buy a vehicle for my son. I actually couldn't beleive how many scammers were listing vehicles on their site. I finally got tired of all the scammers and baited one of them. Carried on with him for days, asking him all kinds of questions and providing bogus answers to his. I finally provided him a link to the FBI Fraud site and advised that I had forward all his information and his location, which I had pinged, to the FBI and they would be contacting him shortly. I never heard from him again. :)

I know most if not all of us have better things to do with our time but the link below is a forum for those who take time to bait the scammers and lead them on to waste their time. Even have the scammers send the photos holding signs to make the so-called "mark" to feel good about the transaction.

I tell them that if this bonafide to send photo of themselves holding a sign of a Bible scripture that does not exist, like Genesis chapter 158 verse 3 :B

I work as a window clerk for the post office, you would be suprised at how many fall for these scams.In one week I had to tell 2 people that the so called post office money order they had for several hundred dollars was counterfeit.We take the fake and any info and forward to the postal inspectors.When we moved up to our new current 28ft TT we traded in our smaller one with the dealer.

@ OP: lol this guy gets around. I had the exact same thing happen a year or so ago on CL selling a car. Almost verbatim. He needs to give up this sad act and get a new scam. I think folks are on to this one. :)

I use CL a lot for stuff that I need to sell. I have a separate e-mail address that I use. When they reply, you have to read between the lines and just discard the fakes. I leave my phone # and put in the add, no text you must call. If they are sincere and gonna buy, they will adhere to your conditions, when, where, etc. Just be aware of all happenings and be very careful. So far, for me, scammers I delete and the good ones, I sell to. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

That's why I traded my old camper into the dealer for the new one, didn't want to fool with all the scam artists.

I had that once, I was selling my Polaris snowmobile and a Chinese guy working in UK wanted it...riiiiiight.
Just to swap it over I did work overseas for a while. Try replying to an ad saying You're from Toronto but working in DR Congo and see who answers. LOL. I had to have my wife answer some ads for me :)It was nice to come home
