Scangauge vs Ultragauge for trans temp.

I know several members on here are using the Scangauge to monitor trans temp but I was wondering about the Ultragauge and how it compares. It's about half the cost and I like the way the display is lighted better. I have a 2001 1500 Suburban 5.3 with tow package but no trans temp gauge like the 2500 has. It's easy and affordable to retrofit 2003 and newer but about $250 to do a 2001 so a OBII gauge seems like a reasonable alternative if it will work. Any thoughts on either will be appreciated.
  • Anyone have any dealings with Ultragauge? I don't see a phone number on their web site. I like the cost idea of using my phone but think I would rather have a separate unit.
  • I had a Scanguage in my commuter car from 05-11. It served me well, but there's a lot more advanced options out there now.

In my Jeep JK I used an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge.

In my 06 truck I use an Edge Insight CTS2
in my 09 truck I use an Edge Insight CTS

I believe everything is done online and through email. They're pretty quick to respond. When I ordered a unit a few years ago, it was on back order because of a version change. When I would send an email in, I would normally get a response back in 30 minutes or so.
