Schwintek Sides out of sync

I have a 2016 Eagle Cap 1165 and I can not get the dinette sild to open. The system is out of sync and the front will open about 4 inches and the back about 2. I have tryed to resync the motors with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

Thanks
  • Yes I have had the problem with the Schwintek slide on my 5th wheel. I had to push the sticking side in and out while opening or closing.I think it started because I had the the slide in a bind due to the way the camper was leveled. The motors will eventually resync themselves but it is annoying to have to assist them. I had to assist mine through 10 or so cycles. Don't waste your time trying to do the sync reset it will not help. They are not out of sync the slide is somehow in a bind. Is your camper on the truck with the jacks down? If so retract them and see if the slide works properly. If it is just sitting on the jacks; that may be the problem. It will work OK when on the truck. Good luck.
  • Man there seems to be a lot of problems with that type of system are these companys trying to put themselves out of business, what was so wrong with the old way of doing it.
  • Take a look at Youtube. Schwintek has some good videos up about sync'ing and maintenance.....or they did last year.
  • Keyspirate, sorry for your problem and please let us know what happens! Key to some people's (like me!) purchasing decsions.

Yeah, check for the youtube videos from Schwintek.

If you had nothing to do for 3 months you could search IRV2 forums and read all the posts, there was even a poll some months ago. ... but most of that is related to full wall slides in 40+' motorohomes.

  • When I decided to buy my AF 990 I called AF and made sure that they still built the 990 with the old tried and true Power Gear slide mechanism. No Schwintek type slide mechanism for me.
  • Not sure if its the same problem OP is having but when closing mine the aft side would stop retracting but the forward side would keep going until the whole thing would bind and stop. Took several out and in tries to get it to come all the way in. Took it to the dealer who talked with Schwintek and their answer is that it must be very level in order to move smoothly; they sugested leveling with the jacks before each operation. Apparently there is enough flex in the camper body that it puts stress on the slide rails if not level.

I'll try to get it as level as I can with my small bubble level before fully extending. When just needing quick acccess I'll just open enough to squezze in rather than opening fully. Hopefully that will keep things working...

What is the "old way of doing "it"?
