Keep in mind that Ford uses hub centric wheels and I am not aware of an aftermarket wheel company that makes a hub centric wheel. I am not trying to start an argument between the hub-centric/lug-centric folks but there must be a reason. The center bore on aftermarket wheels is not machined to the close tolerances required for hub-centric. If there is no difference in performance, why would any car maker go with hub-centric as it adds cost to manufacturing? A whole lot of aftermarket "cool looking" wheels are die cast (liquid aluminum injected into a mold)as opposed to forged which is much stronger. The lug centric system also puts the studs in sheer along with giving the tapered lug the chance to work as a wedge in the bolt hole. In this case it appears the spokes failed due to repeated lateral flexing as the spoke may not have had enough wall thickness.
I'm also curious why anyone would be "giving away" ANY alloy wheel as one poster stated. Salvage yards and anyone with any brains in the tire business would never, ever, give away an alloy wheel even if damaged. Alloy wheels are money in the bank in the scrap metal biz. $25-$40 all day long. I'd love to find a place that would "give" me surplus alloy wheels.
