Score one for the weight police :)

After several years of running the vision 19.5 wheels and hating the ride, i went with toyo open country tires that have the weight rating I needed. I did not look at the wheel rating though. 4 years and 10,000+ miles with this setup and no issues. Til today. I just got home from a 250 mile trip and when unloading i noticed 2 cracked spokes in the wheel. Just a heads up to all of you running srw rigs with 4000lb campers, this was a close one. We have all read on here about this. I am here to tell you, I have hauled this setup for thousands of mile with no issues til now

  • It looks like an assist should be given to the OP for buying those wheels to carry a heavy camper. Glad you are ok.
  • My uncle hauls a modest 36' triple axle toyhauler when we go out. I won't name names, but he bought Fuel rims for his SRW Dodge from a place that likes to give away FREE BEEF.

Scales say he only has a pin weight of 2500lbs. BOTH rear rims cracked, leaked, and left the tires flat. Low grade, thin, cast aluminum, cheap China-made rims couldn't even hold up to 2500lbs. Virtually no TC weighs in at 2500lbs, imagine the carnage if he had a 4000lb TC.

Well, this **place** that gives away free beef did, AFTER a lot of arguing and trips to the store, offer to refund all 4 tires and wheels to go with Vision 19.5 rims and new tires for his Dodge.

I would buy from this place that gives away free beef, but just not anything that is their in-house brand.

And BTW - this all happened just this spring.

    Not yet received.
  • What were they rated to? They will be stamped on the back of a spoke probably. And what was your rear axle weight?

I have a set of American Racing wheels that are rated to 3400 each, and have 6600 on the rear axle when I have the Jeep trailer hooked up.

So, is that a Ford rim/wheel? Do you have a pic of theat one?

It is an aftermarket modern ultra 17" wheel. Havent posted pics here in a few years so not exactly sure how.
