My thoughts from 3 days at show.
I'll be back there again today (day 4). It's nice to get hands onto the units all in one place.
Only thing that impressed me about the EC 1172 was the reclining chairs, otherwise the overall fit and finish quality was what I thought be extremely poor. Gaps all around, cheap components, corner wallpaper type trim coming off, etc... Looking closely at the 1172 was a lesson in the lack of attention to detail and not using quality components.
Looked closely at the AF series that I was interested in as well. 1150 was the main focus and didn't like the quality of the fit and finish I saw there. Lots of little things on the exterior and interior not quite to par but it's not the high-end or low-end of the market. Overall the 1150 was nice, but the lack of a reclining chairs option makes it a no go for DW as a long term option.
Then we came across the Host Mammoth. Being here for days I had multiple discussions with Randal on a number of different items. I'm a fan of the long couch and adjustable table (left/right/forward and back), overall layout and focus on a large storage drawer which is accessible from exterior. All the others have a little space here and there strung out all with multiple exterior access panels and you have to try and play Tetris in order to fit something here or there. The Mammoth has it all in a single full slide out tray. I went over this unit will a fine tooth comb and found some minor manufacturing line issues on the cab cover but overall it looked almost flawless. I didn't like the little couch by the door. While it had a foot rest, there needs to be some type of recliner option to make it comfortable long term. Also didn't like the front to back propane tank setup which makes it more difficult to remove and refill the rear tank. Battery storage wasn't bad and Randal mentioned that they could shorten the storage tray to allow more batteries to installed. It's heavy and it's one of the most expensive, so I'd have to say it matched expectations.
