Seattle RV Show Observations

First, as others have noted, there are several different TCs available to see at the Seattle RV show. I haven't been there for a few years. That was cool. I'm not really shopping, but it's fun to see what others have been talking about.

Second, it took two trips in the only Host to actually have it grow on me. On reflection, one of the best features of the giant triple slide was the back slide because it really does make it larger. I also really liked that it had two love seats/sofas. That made it possible to actually have a conversation at two positions without feeling bad that someone else was sitting at the dinette. DW is short at 5'2" and their sofas were some of the most comfortable for her and she could actually reach the floor. :) The final difference was that the Host although it had an island had two exits from the bedroom area. I don't know if I'm crazy about a center bath, but given the alternative to have a triple slide, I actually like it. An actual Host rep was there. I believe he said he was a general manager, and I think his name was Randal.

I did like the Eagle Cap Triple Slide, but I didn't like the single way to exit the bedroom. I actually preferred it on the first pass compared to the Host. In case you are wondering the Host was 55K and the Eagle Cap as configured was 52K if memory serves me right.

The finish for the rest of the manufacturers including Bigfoot, Northern Lite, Arctic Fox, etc was also good although the one Palomino door to the bathroom didn't seem to close at all. Peering over the wall showed that there was significant space between the catch and door handle.

Another observation is that the slides other than the Hosts are pretty tall still compared to the floor. That's is something pretty unique to TCs although I don't know why. Some of the RVs had step downs in their floors which was even worse.

The other RV that the DW, and I both liked was the shorter Grand Design Fifth wheel. The Landmark layout was good as well. If you go, they were closing the third sale on the Landmark as we were pushed out. :) Again, we aren't shopping, but they were still nice.

I didn't find any Class Bs that I liked. Sure, they were nice, but compared to my TC, they are rather narrow in walking space. Surprisingly, I also didn't see any Class Cs or As that seemed very nice. If I had to guess, there seemed to be nicer TTs than other types. Maybe it was just that there were so many! The Arctic Fox and Lance TTs were nice. We also liked the retro models(the company name escapes me) and the European model TT that was there in the same area.
  • The wife and I went to the Tacoma RV show, they had allot of TC's outside, we were surprised at the amount of room they had in them.

We as with you didn't look at many Class C or Class A's but we did look at 5th wheels, did not see ant Grand designs but fell in love with a Kz G384RLT Durango Gold which looking at some picture post here looks allot like the Grand Design ...

I am getting to believe that all the MFG now have somewhat the same design features, the sofa's, stoves, light fixtures, shower's, cabinets pretty much look the same except for minor changes.....

Had we seen a Grand Design, maybe we would have thought about buy such, compared the two between price and workmanship, layout and dealer availability in what we wanted.... We may in the future regret our discussion to buy a KZ brand but only time will tell. I believe it's more in what your dealer provides in service and how well they support you in warranty work if needed than if a brand is good or bad .....

We liked the Grand Design as well. I think we will be purchasing a 303RLS next year.
  • Thanks for the report.

I have never seen the big Host that you looked at except for on-line brochures. It must be neat to experience in person those yuge TC's that are coming out nowadays.
