Lots of small diesels such as in pick ups or smaller straight trucks make a million miles especially Cummins & the old IH/Ford 7.3s. Cummins even has a club / website dedicated to it. Not many gassers ever make it.
Then again most of the big mile applications namely Transporters & Hot shoters tow and often heavy wherein the gassers are too costly to drive and make decent profit towing heavy & high drag loads since fuel is the biggest expense and directly affects the profit margin.
These two oil field hot shot drivers mostly run around lightly loaded with parts in the bed much like the auto parts stores mini trucks that run automotive parts to automotive shops.
I've seen several documented Chevy small block and Ford Triton trucks make it to 1 million miles.
