My criteria includes a tow vehicle that is more than adequate for the trailer .
I have a rig that my wife ( and oldest kid ) can feel comfortable driving so that I can get a nap on a long travel day .
The setup you have right now probably makes sense .
We have a 9200 # gvw diesel pickup towing a 7280# gvw trailer .
We load the trailer heavy to the tongue .
We have gone on month long trips where we were moving several days in a row to spend time at destinations .
A 7280 # gvw tow vehicle towing a 9200 # gvw trailer is not as good ( safe/ fun / practical ) as the other way around .
Does that 31 footer have any more bathrooms, sinks, furnaces , beds , dinettes , water heaters , holding tanks , than a 24 foot trailer ?
We carry EZ-UPs and spend more time outside .
A high gvw pickup allows us to take anything along .
A half ton pickup , not so much .
