So many suggestions for the Coachmen 192RBS that the wifey and I are going to take a look see.
Our previous triple bunk bed KZ Spree 240BH-LX was a great trailer that saw a lot of use when our boys were younger but once they reached the age when they no longer had the time or interest to camp with us we decided it was time to downsize as I didn't see the point in dragging around bunk beds we wouldn't be using. When my wife and I settled on a new 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS my dealer questioned whether we really wanted such a short trailer but we went ahead anyway. Since that time this same dealer has sold dozens of 192s, most recently at the fall Toronto RV show where out of 10 trailers sold 4 were 192s. No question, folks buy rigs of all sizes and configurations but there's also no doubt that a noticeable number recognize the many advantages of trailers this size - you just gotta be willing to give a bit on issues like bathroom size, lack of a dinette if you want a sofa, lack of a breakfast bar, etc, as you might find in a somewhat larger trailer. I can't speak for other designs but I will say though that storage space in the Freedom Express 192RBS is copious, certainly plenty for the average couple, and space offered in the front pass through cargo compartment is nothing short of amazing. Clearly Coachmen recognized what they have in this model, introducing improvements that my 2014 doesn't have - a full length 80" queen bed, a vent over the main cabin area in which a powered Fantastic vent fan could be installed, and LED lighting throughout. About the only improvements I can think of offhand that would be handy would be to add a third cabinet door to the lower part of the cabinet beside the fridge and cabinet doors on the end of the bed platform for easier access to the under bed storage area, mods I did myself to our own 192RBS. In future, I wouldn't be surprised to see Coachmen replace the current 6 cu ft fridge with an 8 cu ft version, as found in the similar Starcraft Launch 21FBS.
Typically our 192RBS averages 4500 lbs or so loaded and ready to camp, a bit more if I'm carrying content in the tanks. Tongue weight as measured several times with my Sherline tongue weight scale averages around the 600 lb mark. I tow with a 5.3L Avalanche with the older wide ratio 4-spd transmission coupled to a non-tow friendly 3.42 axle and although I would have thought a Honda Ridgeline to be somewhat lightweight for towing this size of trailer one can't argue with success reported by Last Train. :B
