You need to look at the payload ratings of the truck. Doesn't matter if it is a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton and so on. If the loaded tounge weight, or total towing weight are not over your ratings you are fine. Many 1/2 ton trucks will be fine with that weight, many will not, it all depends on the particular truck.
