Sewer Pipe Storage

For those of you that don't have rear bumpers with sewer hose storage space, where do you store it?
  • Here is what I have used for quite a few years. I just recently replaced it with 5" fence post cover as my new hose fittings will not fit.

    Old hose carrier.
4 inch PVC pipe. Fittings do not fit well but did fit into the end.

    New hose carrier.
I made three of them. One for me and one for each of my sons trailers. The tray slides out and can be used a a hose support.

  • 5" fence post. Hung it right next to the dump connection. No running bank n forth, it's all in one spot.

A rubbermaid tote will also work but you need storage for the tote.. I made one from the 5x5 square PVC post...Uses no storage space and keeps the stinky outside..

x2. This is perhaps the best mod I've done.

  • Valterra makes nice sewer hose holders for those who don't have the time or ability or inclination to make their own out of fence post, PVC pipe, etc. these come with brackets built in which can be easily screwed to the exterior of the RV with 4 screws. Installation time is less than 5 minutes. I did this on my previous RV which did not have the hollow bumper.

The only possible downside of the Valterra ready-made product is cost - depending on what your time is worth it could be more expensive than the DIY solution.

I made my storage for the stinky slinky out of 4" ABS pipe with a cleanout plug on each end so it can be cleaned from either side.
You can buy these tubes for about $45 which is about the same price that you can make one for. The difference is that the DWV pipe that you purchase is much thicker. Also note, that if you make your own you need to use certain fittings since the ID is smaller and some fittings won't fit.

You then attach the tube to your frame under the trailer so it is accessible from either side.
