I'm going from memory but I thought the rails where only a touch of 3/4" high. I found the spacer a pain when I had my 5th wheel as well. I was considering going to an undermount hitch to get rid of the rails. Ended up getting rid of the 5th wheel instead.
PS. congrats on the new camper, I've looked at that one a number of times, it's hard to believe it's a truck camper. I think it has the same bathroom as my 89RB but quite different otherwise lol.
