Shocks which do you have and why?

I run bilsteins... Always have and always will. Nice firm contact with the road.

Had ranchos 30 years ago and had multiple failures. Would never buy again.

Bilsteins have outlasted many trucks ive owned. Last truck had 170k miles and bilsteins were still like new...Never a leaker.

Though I don't have a dually, I just installed a set of KYB MonoMax shocks on all 4 corners on my 2007 Dodge 2500 CTD. I had Bilstiens on my other truck and they are very good. However, I'm am thoroughly impressed by the KYB's ride and no bouncing of the front when stopping. They are also less expensive than the Bilstiens, which was a factor for me.

Rancho 9000. Got em on sale (3+1). Replaced the first set after about 75,000 on them. New set under warranty have about 5,000 miles... What a DIFFERENCE it made to put new on. As long as I am the original owner, subsequent shock are free, so yes I would install the same again.

I bought these because the stock factory shocks gave out around 25K. I wanted a decent replacement and I don't think one can go wrong with any good quality aftermarket sets. I keep the setting at the stiffest increment... cause it is a truck and do not care about the ride as long as it does the work it is intended to do.

I have Bilstein 4600s on my F450. I had Rancho 9000s on my F350 SRW. Both were carrying the same camper.

I find the ride better with the Bilsteins and F450, but I can't say it is a fair comparison. The adjustments were absolutely necessary to drive the F350 SRW to keep from bouncing out of the road (unloaded) on tight Forest Service Roads with bumps and also have maximum dampening/handling with camper loaded.

I picked the Bilstein 4600s for the F450 because I was sure that the truck would handle the "sway" and cornering, and I had heard about the great ride of the Bilsteins for years. I picked the Rancho 9000s because I knew from reading posts here that they helped a SRW quite a bit.

Both choices were fine. Again, not a great comparison since I didn't have the same truck with both sets of shocks.

I have Rancho 9000, because they are adjustable. Empty, they need to control about 2000 lbs on the rear axle. With the camper loaded, more than 3x - about 6500. Empty I put the rear adjustment on 1. With the camper, 9. I have never found a non-adjustable shock that could do both jobs well.

Bilstein's all the way'. With 45,000 miles on the 2015 RAM I'll be changing over to them shortly. I'm always amazed at how the ride completely changes (for the better) when Bilstein's go on.

I lived in Mexico for about 4 years in an area with alot of dirt and rock desert roads. I could chew thru a set of really good shocks in a less than a year. Once I switched to Bilstein's, that was it. No more changing out shocks and the ride on desert, rocky washboard was like heaven. YMMV

Rancho 9k's--My truck rides rough, period. Like being able to crank 'em up loaded and down to soften it up unloaded. Best $400 I spent on mods.

Just put Bilstein on all four corners per the recommendation from these great folks and wow what a difference in ride. My truck still had the OEM shocks and the were completely shot. We came down I20 pulling our fifth wheel today and always cringed going over one bridge abutment on the East bound side and the Bilsteins made a huge difference, still felt the jolt but you didn't feel your teeth get knocked together. Wish I would have done this sooner.
