Shocks

Need to replace my shocks on 2011 GMC Denali 3500 SRW 4 wheel drive. Any suggestions on a shock, pull a 34' fiver.

I see Bilsteins posted all the time on this forum. However, I have to ask, does anybody run the Rancho 9000 XL? I've personally been curious about this shock. It's an adjustable shock so you can set it to a softer setting for daily driving duties and then set it so something more aggressive for towing when you need more dampening.

I tried a set and they were shot after 6 months. I put the factory Rancho's back on.

  • 4600's on the 2011 RAM Dually really smoothed out the bumps!

Front of current 15 RAM Dually, they don't make then for the rear factory air.
  • What Ntrouble said. Waaaaay better than stock. I also replaced the steering damper with a Bilsteins. Also a noticeable improvement.
  • 4600s are for heavy towing
5100s are a bit softer. Made for both lifted AND stock height.

Had 4600s on last truck and 5100s on current truck. Prefer the 5100s as this truck is also a daily driver.

Either way can't really go wrong when compared to the **** stock shocks GM puts on these trucks. Three of mine were gone at 22k miles when I put on the bilsteins. I will never own another truck with factory shocks.
  • I replaced my OEMs with Bilstien 4600 front and rear on my 2010 Ram 3500 4x4 SRW megacab. My 5er is a 2014 Keystone Alpine 3500 RE which is almost 39' long and about 14K lbs. No more bouncing and feels better on rough pavement on the road. Best price I found autoanything.com with 20% discount beat amazon and pepboys. Side note - don't know if it is true or not but told Bilstien 5100 are for lifted trucks?? Nicer solid ride when not towing than OEMs.
